Re: [FWDLK] canister old filter

I use grease to hold the round gasket on the canister, seemed to work easier than placing it on the base.

Sometimes, well mostly, the gasket was packed in and bent, so I'd let it set in a service manual to iron it out.

Subject: [FWDLK] canister old filter

Group,

What is the trick to this?   I changed the oil and filter on my car this afternoon and had a terrible time of it.    The new filter came with a rubber gasket to be used on the bottom of the canister.   How do you get this very large rubber gasket to seal correctly (much less line up)?  As a result, I have a large puddle of oil to clean up and a problem to solve.   Assistance please.   P.S.   This might be the final straw to get a converter to the new type oil filters from ?hot heads?.

Thanks,
