Here in (usually) sunny Idaho, we also
have a large number of cars from the 70’s, 60’s, and even some 50’s
that are still doing daily duty around town in varying states of survival.
That’s only true here in this part of our state, where topography keeps
snow and bitter cold temps at bay.
My 57 Dodge CRL was ordered new in San Francisco and spent most of its life in Cali and in the West.
Fifty years later when I put in up on a rack people are amazed at its pristine condition.

Out here in the beautiful Pacific NW,
where we do not salt the roads, there are still a lot of twenty year old cars
on the road in great condition, and a fair share of thirty year old cars.
Back in the '50's, the more affluent
folks in our neighborhood traded in every three years or so, average was
probably six or seven, and the cars made three or four owners before being
junked. My first trips to wrecking yards in 1958, most cars were wrecked,
not worn out.
