As far as I am aware the first race type roller cam/tappet was designed by Herbert Cams in 1951. As you point out some of the classic Duesenburgs may have had them prior to this. What's interesting about your cam is that it has a Chrysler part #, I thought in the early days like the stick 300C's all their roller cams were obtained from outside sources like Herbet, Isky etc etc? Or did Chrysler just stamp their own part # on a part that was not their own? My 2 bits worth.
