Nick,
4 leafs
are wimpy. All Dodges used 5 leafs, except the D500 which used the stiff 6
leafs. I would go with 5.
J. C.
Whitney has a coil spring that clamps onto the axel tube under the frame. It
sits a little lower than contact during normal ride height, but if the rear
settles down with a load, it then comes into play.

Subject: [FWDLK] Another spring
question
Getting ready
to order new springs for my 56 Savoy. Then Espo gives me the choice of 4, 5 or
6 leaf springs.
I believe my
stock ones are 4 leaf. But they are so worn out, I can't really judge if I
should get 4 leaf or 5 leaf.
I'm leary
about getting them too stiff and having the car ride hard.
My initial
idea was to get 4 leaf and add a helper that would kick in when I loaded the
trunk down with tools, beer, etc.
Any
suggestions?
Thanks,
Nick
