I didn't look at the '59 Plymouth due to difficulty accessing it, but the three '60 Chryslers I located in a yard here - including the one I bought - have no data tags on the door post. But they do appear to have had one there. I looked at a '62 and it does have a VIN tag there. As low as they are on the cowl it's not hard to see the rivet or spot weld getting broken when someone kicks snow off their feet in the winter, assuming someone didn't take them with the registration cards to register some other car. Meanwhile I get the fun of pulling the heater core to check VIN and hope the guy has a registration card to match it, in the stack somewhere. NY needs an etching of the VIN from the tag on the car if your registration is lost - while I could probably fool them one way or another, since the average DMV clerk will know as much about a '60 Chrysler VIN as the average 5 year old does, it's a hassle I'd rather avoid, just in case down the road there's any question of ownership. But it's not a big worry, since it will be a long time to get this one back together.
