Just to add to what others have said, you'll need a long breaker bar and maybe a length of pipe over that to get enough leverage to break it loose and get it turning. When you put the new ball joint in, make sure it will take the full recommended torque. It it won't, the threads on the control arm probably aren't good enough to hold the ball joint. Tried that once on a 66 Barracuda; the BJ stayed in for more than a year, but popped out one day when I hit a pothole.
