Yes, good idea to check ground... I remember i 've a similar problem 6 months ago with my '57 Imp. The problem came not from the motor but from wiring: the windshield washer pedal is connected with the wiper (when you push the washer pedal the wipers make a travel) and there was a bad ground in the pedal switch. I've shortened the washer switch and all is fine. So check if the wiper wiring is connected to this pedal (i'm not sure all cars had this feature) and if so email privatly me i'll give you the wires to short Problem could also comes from the automatic "parking" switch in the motor. It's a small switch actuated by a rotating cam. On my motor (57) you've to remove the front cover (3 screws ?) to access. Not need to remove the assembly from the dash. -- Philippe COURANT (Pau, France)- Webmaster des sites ACCF et C-I-F Imperial 1957 Crown convertible Buick 1958 Roadmaster sedan HT - American Car Club de France (ACCF) : http://www.accf.com - Chrysler Imperial France (C-I-F) : http://www.ifrance.com/c-i-f - Cadillac " Standard of Excellence " : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-cad - SportsCars : http://www.ifrance.com/accf-sprtcar -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- 2003 Calendar voting results and ordering information is online!
