Can worn components in the tranny tail shaft cause vibration. I'm trying to solve a similar problem and like John, I've ruled out so many potential causes. An extra clue I got was when I swapped the rear end gears from 2.76 to 3.55's the rumble moved down the speed scale from 65 down to 50 mph. That ruled out wheels, tires, axle bearings, alignment and leaves something between the tranny output shaft and the rear U joint. I've had the drive shaft balanced twice with no noticeable improvement. The U joints look fine and are centered which leaves me wondering about the Torqueflyte . . . Cheers! On the drive shaft issue - before trip I did change drive shafts because my original one had a torn front boot and it was easier to just change drive shafts than to try and maneuver that boot off of one shaft and put it on another. I guess one of the things to do is get a new boot and put the old drive shaft back on. In the meantime though I do have another car I can take the drive shaft off of and try that one. If I have no vibrations or vibrations at different speed then it would point to drive shaft. Whats kind of puzzling though is that vibrations are felt most strongly in steering wheel, not seat, and that car drove perfectly for the first 500 miles of trip. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Blackmore, Dawson" <DBlackmore@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 8:27 AM Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Bad vibrations > I had a similar problem and it was a problem with a out-of-balance drive > shaft. > > Dawson Blackmore, Jr. > 1957 DeSoto Firesweep "Memphian" Ambulance > web: www.ctemsi.com > vmail: 203.386-3455 > email: ctemsi@xxxxxxxx > dblackmore@xxxxxxxxxxxx > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Ron Waters [mailto:ronbo97@xxxxxxxxx] > Sent: Tuesday, September 17, 2002 8:58 AM > To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Bad vibrations > > > John - > > Have you had the wheels balanced ?
