This conversion has been done for decades without any "smoke from the 6 V starter". One thing I found out for the heater fan motors on this conversion is the '56 MOPAR heater motor fits all the way back to '46 and are available through many parts stores from "Four Seasons Mfg. Co." in Coppell, Texas. This way you do not need a resistor, which is bad to use with a motor.
