David - Forget any default settings. If you feel that a response will be useful to the group ("Here's how to remove those stubborn rear brake drums", for example), then send it to the group (Reply All or put L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx in your address book). If it's just a personal communication ("How much did you want for that hood ornament", for example), then just send it to the individual. It's that simple.
