Re: [FWDLK] 57-58 Plymouth Detail Questions/150 Speedometer Restoration/Wheel Color

Hi Glen,

By late August 1957, I would expect that production of the 1957 models would
have already been phased out in favor of the 1958 models, which had to be in
the dealer showrooms by late in September. Usually, the phase out of the
current year's models was done by around mid July to begin changing the
lines over to the next year's models. By some time no later than about
early June, dealers could no longer order current year models eqipped the
way that the customer wanted. They would have to take what Chrysler Corp
was building out, which were often highly equipped cars (power windows, AC,
etc) to get rid of excess parts on the production line. (My Dad was a
Chrysler/Plymouth dealer beginning in 1960.)

Did the 1958 models have aluminum wheels instead of black? I am pretty sure
that at some point, the color of the wheels changed back to black. For the
1960 and later models? Thanks, Jim
