A friend in California has a '58 Regal Lancer. It is, in my eyes anyway, a
gorgeous package. It is totally unrelated to the Spring Special trim
package or the Texans. In fact it is an upgrade of the Custom Royal Lancer.
Everything Roger mentions below is correct. The bronze color is unique to
the model as is the upholstery material. The one my friend owns was on the
cover of Mopar Collectors Guide probably about 9 years ago. He bought it
after seeing it there. We are pretty sure this car was the '58 Miami auto
show car as it is totally loaded with options including being Super D-500
and has factory AC. White with Bronze. Great car.
There was another restored by Bob Schmitt in Phoenix probably 13-14 years
ago that was black and bronze but did not have all the options. Also, I
found one in a Wisconsin junk yard and turned a guy named Soter (I think)
onto the car as he lived nearby. Have seen a couple of others advertised in
Hemmings after learning about the model.

The 1958 1/2... top-of-the-line Regal Lancer. Available only as a two-door
hardtop, it displayed a fourth bodyside molding treatment that deftly
outlined a tapering full-length color sweep, which ducked under the fin.
Other exterior amenities included the Custom Royal grille medallion, triad
bumper "teeth," and a unique wider chrome eyebrow molding over the
headlights (borrowed from the DeSoto Firesweep). The interior was plush,
sporting special seat trims and ribbed door trim panels with molded-in
armrests; chrome roof rails, bows, and rear pillars; special bronze
accousti-foam headliner and padded visors; and specific bronze instrument
cluster and glovebox trim bezels. The Regal Lancer could be ordered only in
a stunnig metallic bronze with contrasting black roof, fins, and color sweep
(or its reverse), and also in bronze and white and its reverse. Only 1,163
were produced.
