To Brian, Your conversion to power brakes should be fairly easy if you can
find the entire assembly. The master cyl. is the same with or without the
power brake and does not even have to be removed to do this conversion.
Don't forget to also obtain the vacuum storage tank. I have done this to my
61' newport which uses the same parts and also has the same front-end
assembly I also have been considering a disc brake conversion. I have been
in contact with another fellow with a 61 Chrysler who has done just this.
He used the front wheel assemblies from a 69' Charger with disc and reports
that the problems encountered were not serious. The first was having to
switch to the larger 15'' wheels to clear the calipers and the car sitting
2'' lower when finished. (Simply adjust the torsion bars for this) Also
install an adjustable proportioning valve was required. The last time we
spoke he was trying to find a way to upgrade to a dual resovoir master
cylinder but fitting it in under the booster is a problem as space is
limited. Hope this helps! S. LOUTHAN
