Well, I'll give you all my trademark point-of-view email later if I have time, but for now I'll just give a rundown of the basics. This was an estate sale of the late Billy Brinkman, a tractor and car collector in Hellam, Pennsylvania (near Harrisburg). He seemed to be a big '56 Dodge fan, but had other stuff as well. Thanks to all of you who called. Sorry about the St. Regis. I liked that one a lot myself. There were a lot of miscellaneous parts and such. I picked up a shopping bag full of oil filters for $.50. Three 57/8 Plymouth radios for $5. A rearview mirror for $3. A complete 1958 Plymouth power steering setup from wheel to steering arm (including pump!) for $5. A Box of '58 plymouth Headlight doors and eyebrows for $4. Good deals, indeed! The following cars all sold complete -- they all started, and all had nice straight bodies. They were each in various stages of reconditioning. No car sold for more than $700. I've included the prices that I remember. Many were driven onto the trailers... 55 Dodge 4dr sedan V8 AT 55 DeSoto 4dr AT, Hemi $500 (driven away) 55 DeSoto 4dr sedan AT $390 (driven away) 55 Plymouth 4dr sedan 6 cyl AT 56 St. Regis 2dr HT $430 (Freshly rebuilt hemi). 56 Chrysler 4dr sedan AT Hemi 56 Dodge 4dr sedan V8 AT 56 Dodge Coronet 2dr AT 56 Dodge Coronet 4dr AT 56 Dodge Coronet 4dr sedan V8 AT 56 Dodge 4dr sedan 6 cyl stick Parts Cars (Mopar only listed here): 56 Dodge 2 dr sedan $5 (the engine sold for $500; must have been a D500...) to #118 56 Dodge 4dr HT $10 to #118 (2) 58 Plymouth Custom Suburban SW $10 each. to #118 57 Plymouth Belvedere 4dr sedan 6 cyl AT $10 (cigarette lighter sold for $5, one hubcap for $10) to #118 57 Plymouth Belvedere2dr HT 301 V8 Power Pack 4bbl w/manual trans... odd setup, eh? $15. (Bumper wings sold to me for $10, rear view mirror for $5). to #27 58 Dodge 4dr sedan V8 AT $15 (This guy is keeping the car for parts). Now here's the important part. All of the parts cars above were bought for -scrap value- only (except '58 Dodge). The people who bought them are more than willing to grab parts off of them before they get crushed, so CALL if you need anything, but do it QUICK. #118 Mark Lovejoy, (717) 792-4409. He will be taking these to the "Route 124" junkyard, probably before Wednesday. He gave us the "take anything you want off of them before they get crushed" option, but having only a hacksaw, tire iron, and a phillips head screwdriver, that wasn't easy. You can probably buy any of them whole from him if you beat the scap metal value (around $40). #27 Mark Warner, (717) 927-8069. All of the 57/8 Plymouths had decent power steering steering wheels. None had any decent sheet metal. If you have specific questions about any of the Plymouth parts cars, give me a ring at (412)822-7385 or an email and I will answer whateve questions I can. -Dave |
