you don't have to change the rear gear- in the end PF or TF is a 1:1 ratio, so the multiplication of the lower 1st gear in the TF will give it some getup, especially with the 301. gear swap is for preference only. theorhetically the converter is different, however the PF and TF input shaft, stator suppt, and snout are all of the same dimensions, and the higher stall of the PF converter is advantageous for takeoff in the TF, the converter for PF is 1" less diameter. the radiator wouldn't need to be changed, both iron PF and TF were available air cooled until early 58 [in plymouths at least- latest air cooled TF i've had come through for rebuild was 5-58] so air cooled for air cooled is a direct swap.
the trick would be to find a liquid cooled TF and run with air cooled bell and converter from the powerflite. i do this in early performance applications that i upgrade to Fury/300 spec, double cooling adds life to the small diameter clutches when pushing some torque through them, even with 6 thin clutches in the direct drum to add surface area after machining new retainer ring grooves.

PowerFlight is a 3.54 ratio and the TorqueFlight is a 3.36 ratio.
In addition you also have to change the radiator as the PowerFlight is air cooled. Add the coolant lines from the transmission to the radiator.
It adds up to a lot of expense…
Too bad it didn't come from the factory with a TorqueFlight.

who chose all those options, if it was factory delivered as such... but kept the 1,2, thats it trans?
just odd. all that one needs is a trans swap, driveshaft, cable, actuator, buttons, bezel, and TV linkage swap and its golden!
