Tim, with all due respect. Where are you getting the records of D500s turning 14.1 in the quarter mile???? I started racing in 1956 with a 56 Plymouth Fury which ran in completion mostly on the East coast drag strips. My 56 Fury won 51 wins out of 59 races and 3 regional and one US National Record and I never seen a 56 D 500 on the drag strip. Believe me I was and am a mopar guy and I would have given anything to have a D 500 or even see one run. A powerflight and a 373 or 391 rear is perfect for the quarter mile put a 315 Dodge Hemi behind that and it would have been fast -------but--------. If a 56 D 500 ran 14.1 it was the only one and definitely not stock. In 1956 the fast cars were turning 16 and 17 seconds.
