It doesn't take much rust to stop the pistons. If, that
is, IF that's all it is, any number of penetrating oils and patience will
work. If it's a boat anchor, forget it. Helps to know what you're
working with to start. If it's Grampa's car that he got too old to drive
and the kids put it in the barn, you're going to have better odds.
Don't be in a big rush to fire it up. pull the plugs,
use Marvel or diesel or whatever, if and when it does free up, turn it over by
hand or with the starter over and over til everything's freed up.

Hi list,
So now that I've established that the engine I
have is frozen into a rather nice anchor, I have a few questions. Please keep
in mind the following: It is a non-matching #'s engine, and it'd be cheaper to
buy a reman for this particular application than to have it rebuilt, so the
motive behind unsticking it is to get it to turn, then get it to run, then use
it, where it is, as is. Do I have any hope of it running properly? If so, what
is the best way to get it unstuck?
