I have had some success in
getting a stuck engine to run and perform as well as it did before becoming
stuck, all were stuck because of rust in the cylinders and required pulling the
heads to remove the material that was restricting movement of the pistons. I
used penetrating oil to free up the pistons and ran a cylinder hone on the parts
of the cylinders that I could reach and cleaned the bore as good as I could
before turning the engine over enough to hone the rest of the cylinders.
Patience and cleanliness is most important to restoring the engine to running
without leaving any foreign material in the cylinder to damage it after it
starts and runs. If the engine is stick due to lower end damage of bearings or
bearing surfaces a rebuild is required.

Subject: [FWDLK] Unsticking a stuck
engine?
Hi list,
So now that I've established that the engine I
have is frozen into a rather nice anchor, I have a few questions. Please keep
in mind the following: It is a non-matching #'s engine, and it'd be cheaper to
buy a reman for this particular application than to have it rebuilt, so the
motive behind unsticking it is to get it to turn, then get it to run, then use
it, where it is, as is. Do I have any hope of it running properly? If so, what
is the best way to get it unstuck?
Thanks all,
Dave
