Re: [FWDLK] Another Fraud?

The reason they get away with it is that nobody cares about us little guys. If it were eBay’s money, they would jump on it with both feet. If it were government money, they would send cops. If it were big business money, they would hire detectives and lawyers. Ebay’s only obligation is to eliminate identified scams from their system. They don’t want to advertise to beware of scams too much, because it might scare away transactions, and that is how they make their money. For us, it is caveat emptor.

A large percentage of these scams originate outside the USA. The recent one on the DeSoto originated in Saudi Arabia. They try to trick people into sending money or their account passwords, so they can access your eBay account, PayPal funds, or credit cards. Scams is the third largest industry in Nigeria. It is common all over the world. What do third world governments care about American citizens losing a few bucks? It is good income for their own economies! They like to pick on Americans because they think we have unlimited cash and many have been so protected for so long, we have forgotten to be wary.

I had a new one happen to me yesterday,I just sold two 1972 Dodge Demon 340s on ebay and I got a call ( I had my phone number in the listing for questions) from on of the losing bidders, someone emailed him offering him a second chance offer requesting money,it wasn't me.I told him to be careful it was a scam and as far as I knew I had already had contact with the winning bidder and everything was going as planned. These scumbags will do anything to try to screw someone out of money.
