Actually, it has to be the hex head. The scredriver-type slot is on the pump driveshaft gear... You can't turn that slot without turning the gear on the shaft, thus the cam, thus the whole engine. You need to remove the pump driveshaft/gear in order to prime the pump without turning over the engine. The priming tool then goes all the way down into the pump. There is a picture of this driveshaft/gear at http://static.summitracing.com/global/images/prod/large/dcc-3690715.jpg -Dave -----Original Message----- From: Forward Look Mopar Discussion List [mailto:L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Nathan Nuttall Sent: Thursday, September 30, 2004 9:13 PM To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: [FWDLK] Oil Pump Priming Tool It should be flat screwdriver type. That distributor is the same as the LA small block (as far as dimensions go). Sounds like you got the wrong one. If you have trouble with Jegs, you can get one from Hot Heads for $12. That is where I bought mine. The pump should rotate clockwise from the top.
