[FWDLK] Engine block number question.

I have a block out of a '59 Dodge with the following number embossed in it:

ML36I
2I206

The block number is 1944929-6
The transmission number is 1736413-13

Can anyone shed any light on these numbers. I took a look in my parts books
but am unable to find these numbers. The ML especially throws me for a loop.
I would expect a MD for a Dodge, but ML??
