Re: [FWDLK] Shipping car parts?

Richard - You must have gotten wrong info from FedEx website. FedEx Express
will take packages weighing up to 150 lbs and up to 119" long. They figure
acceptance size of package by a length and girth formula - which is - length
of package plus 2 x the width and 2 x the height. The total must not exceed
165. For example: your pkg is 82" x 13" x 15" - That total would come
out to 138, well below the 165 cutoff and the 82 lbs is below the maximum
150 lbs. Cost though is another matter. I believe it would cost around $115
to ship part from MN to NY. FedEx Ground would be cheaper than FedEx
Express and would take a couple days longer. Anything larger and heavier
than 150 lbs can be shipped FedEx Freight. FedEx also ships classic cars -
they purchased Passport Transport a few years ago. One thing to remember is
FedEx offers a money-back guarantee - one minute late past the promised time
(varies in certain areas) and your shipment is free (with the exception of
weather-related, acts of God situations) John Z
