Does anyone have any 'stories'  about driving in a pouring-rainstorm
(with or w/o variable-speed wipers) ?

Hi Neil!
My 57 Firedome has a variable speed switch.
The variable speed is not much, it is basically slow to high as a two speed switch. Not much difference! Jason

P.S. This was about the only option that my car came with!
