Brendan, Yes. It will work fine in a cast iron TorqueFlight, up to 1961. It will not work in an aluminum 1962 and later TorqueFlight. The PowerFlight torque converter has a slightly higher stall speed to compensate for the taller first gear. It will allow a little higher engine rpm off the line and better performance than a stock 57 TorqueFlight converter.
