Dave, I once sold a BSA motorcycle to a guy in Denmark. I insisted that i get all the cash up front then once his check cleared I crated it up and his shipper came and picked it up. I guess that both parties will rightfully be wary of each other. If you have someone inspect it for you can you also have that person handle the $$ transaction? When the car is ready to go on the trailer then have hime exchange the cash and the title. You could also consider the use of an escrow service. I did this on my first few e-bay transactions. You pay to the escrow agent and they do not release the money to him or the title to you until you inspect and accept the car. You may be able to get a local lawyer to handle the escrow transaction also.
