It sounds like you got the swap figured out, I am just curious how much horspower and displacement you are running. If you had mentioned this previous, sorry I missed it. As a rule of thumb, a stock 8 3/4 gets a little fragile if you are going quicker then 13 seconds in the quarter, and running one with a big block can compound the problem. The auburn gears and pro carrier will definetly help. You probably already know about having to change axles and backing plates to get rid of the small brakes and bolt pattern hassles with the A body 8 3/4.. Just curious though, if you have late model flanged axles in your original housing, that means you were able to get rid of the stock splined axles. Was this just a straight swap with the parts out of a C body housing? I got some plans for my 63 with the same rear, as well as for either my 58 or 60 Saratogas. Anyway, if worse comes to worse, you can have a Ford 9 inch housing built to your specs, but this would cost much dinero. If you like the housing and set up you have now, you can always have that one narrowed a bit also, but the same problem with being not too cheap. A Dana 60 out of a musclecar era B body would be nice, but that won't be cheap either unless you are lucky. Makes me wonder who has the quickest Forward Looker in the list. I figure the 300's got the top end covered, but in the quarter mile, Jim should be the man! Give us some more info when you get to make a pass at the strip!
