Here is a serious ouch and a question for the tech experts.I was backing my wagon out the driveway when I heard a clunk and I lost reverse in my transmission. My car is a 60 Polara Wagon with the three speed torque flight. All forward gears work fine. The local transmission guy said I lost my rear band, common with the earlier torqueflites. He said it is fixable...but...a $1000 to $2000 dollar job due to high dollar cost parts..youch!!. First does this sound right?, second is this a fair estimate of repair?,and who are the best sources for transmission parts? In fairness, the transmission guy I talked to was referred by two very credible sources. Okay, so where was I going? To pick apples with my family at a local orchard....last night's pie was delicious but I am not sure it was a $1000 pie!!! Thanks Bob Howard 60 Polara Wagon(goes anywhere so long as it is forward)
