Hello, Found a fix for a annoying problem with the 57 300C. First, a little background on the car. I had purchased it in 1982 in northern Ohio. I think the ad read "'57 Chrysler 300C for sale, bring large basket". After 13 years of thinking about it, I finally got the car running in 1995. It was restored with the idea of being a real nice but "driver" type of car. Now after 3 years of working out the bugs I still wasn't happy with the way the car behaved on the road. I had originally replaced most everything I could think of in the front suspension and steering 3 years ago. I'm driving on BF Goodrich bias ply repops, so I figured that the tires would be part of the issue. Not so. Yesterday I was looking around in the trunk and came across a bag with the new front sway bar bushings in it that never got installed. Bingo! That was it. Even though the old ones did not look bad there's a big difference with the handling and driving of the car. I think they came from Gary Goers, didn't cost a lot, and took about 45 minutes to install (lube 'em with dish soap). I'm not sure what models use sway bars, but I know I like the car a lot more today. Jim |
