Bob, I don't know the benefits to converting to the newer cross style joint. But about 4 years ago when I wanted to do mine over. I got the original style joints right from my local auto parts store. Actually, they still had one on the shelf. And I let thier machine shop change them. It was much cheaper than Bernbaum. I don't remember exactly how much though. ---------- From: Robert Mcgrath To: L-FORWARDLOOK@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [FWDLK] '55 Plymouth Driveshaft Problems Date: Monday, December 21, 1998 11:13PM Now that I have my oil leaks fixed, can anyone advise me on the best way to go on repairing a driveshaft. Mine doesn't have u-joints, although I'm told that there is a kit you can buy to convert to a U-joint configuration. Since I am open to upgrading (not a show car, just a nice driver) is there any advantage to converting? Andy Bernbaum has a kit to rebuild my original for about $150.00. Any thoughts would be appreciated, including other sources for these type of parts. A local mechanic quoted me a ballpark figure of $300 to convert to U-joints. Best of the season to you all.
