Pearl S. Buck!!! Now, that's a name I have not heard in years.  GREAT author.  And, yes, I realize this is off topic, but I seldom say anything anyway. ;)

Dear Chris,

Yes,  the cars were in Italy early in 63.  Special Interest Autos has a very informative article that explains the entire contract Chrysler had with Ghia including production numbers, etc.  Another very informative book was just published by Krause in 2004. The author is Gregg D. Merksamer called "Professional Cars."  There is an article on page 161 called The Gems of Turin and he writes all about the Ghia Crown Imperials.  Mr. Merksamer is a renowned author/historian in the automotive industry.  My 64' JFK limo is pictured along with my 65' Ghia limo owned by Pearl S. Buck.

My cars are also on this site under 64' article Ghia Luxury Limos.

Do you have any Imperial limos?

Thanks.

I always thought that delivery of the Ghia limos ran very late because of their enormously long build time in Turin. And if I recall correctly from other '64s I've seen, this was a true '64, not as much a modified previous-year model as some of the Ghias were. Did they actually manage to deliver a '64 Ghia at the same time as the retail launch of the US-built standard-length 1964 models?

Vince,

Not to be picky back but the 1964 was delivered in September 1963.  All new models are always a year ahead.  But you are correct with the fact that the car was also used by the Johnson Administration.  Matter of fact Jackie Kennedy used the car following JFK's assassination in Georgetown.

Not to be picky, but do you mean the Johnson Administration?  JFK was assassinated in November 1963.
