My wife reported that it has started getting very loud and running more often, but it isn't always loud. I'll test drive the car, and if I can reproduce the much louder sound, perhaps that will be enough to get it covered under warranty. The allpar site mentions 100,000 mile warranty, so if it's going to fail, it better do it in the next 4,000. Thanks. Tim -------- Subject: Re: IML: Hydraulic pump sound ('90 IMP) From: David.Whitney@xxxxxxxx Date: Fri, 4 Jun 2004 13:21:17 -0700 This is a known issue with our cars. There is a leaky seal in the booster that releases pressure, causing the pump to repressurize more frequently. I have the same symptom. Eventually, the pump runs all the time until it burns itself up. Depending on which pump assembly you have, you may be able to have some of the work done by a dealer under a lifetime warranty. Otherwise, you'll have to suck it up and pay to replace the pump with a newer unit that does not have this problem.
