Hi Bill,
Welcome to the list, there are several of us with 53's and I am the least
mechanically inclined so I have no advice for you except that Mark Evans did
a great job of scanning my 53 shop manual and posting it on the site so you
have a great resourse there.  I have a copy on CDROM. Anyway post any
question to the group you may have and you are likely to get great advice
and also I may suggest you familiarize yourself with the club site, there is
a tremendous amount of information available.
