It would be a shame to convert this car to carburetor, but if you have no one to work on it who understands the EFI system, you may be forced to. You will not like the performance or economy, but that may be your only out. The reason your car is stalling after a start is probably a loose or poor fitting cover over the air cleaner. Make sure the gaskets are all in place, and that the ring clamp and center wing nut fit well and are tight. As the big sign says on the top of the air cleaner "NOTE: Engine will not run without air cleaner lid." or something to that effect. These cars measure the air flow to set the fuel delivery rate. If air can get into the intake manifold without passing the air flow sensor (on the snorkel that goes to the left front headlight area), the computer gets confused and shuts the car off. Even the SLIGHTEST air leak, ANYWHERE, will screw up these cars. You should also check the 3 wire connector to the air flow sensor, toward the front side of the snorkel.
