'Hissing' dashes on 80s

Hi all,

Just went out to 'listen' to my dash and yes,
there is a 'hissing' noise that is emitted
while the dash elements are lit.

As far as I know, this is a normal electronic
sound emitted by the vacuum florescent
segments. (At least I think they are vacuum
florescent), like early calculators (after LEDs
before LCDs, if you know what I mean.)

It really isn't a hiss as it is more
of a high pitched whine/buzz. Kind of like
when you turn your home stereo on and
turn the volume all the way down - there
is still a 'hiss' of the amp thru the speakers.

I wouldn't worry about it.

It may even be the sound of the electronic
timer. I didn't stay out there too long-
I didn't have my coat on.
