58 spark plug covers

Keith,

I have a 58 in the USA and I can assure you that I would not have suggested trying any kind od parts store for what you want.  In fact, finding some acceptable spark plug wire covers would be extraordinarily daunting for anyone, regardless of geographic location.

Since it is going to be a long term project to find the covers, I suggest you consider leaving what you have alone.  If I recall, you have some kind of rubber grommet on your car that the wires go through.  I think you may find, from a technical point of view, that what you have is superior to the covers.  I have seen pictures of the grommet arrangement in various places and they are quite acceptable to even the purest of the pure.

Keep scoping e-bay for the covers.  Also try some Hemi specialists, like Power Play, at

They have a message board area, so you can post your new found need there.  Do your valve covers still have the cylindrical protrusions welded on?  It's into these that the screws holding the wire covers go.  If you no longer have them, attaching anything will prove nettlesome at the very least.

I doubt if any American scrap yard will have these or be willing to part with them minus the rest of the engine

I have discovered that my old 58 is set up wrong.Just a note to the well meaning guys that will come back with the old faithful ( try your local parts store ) I live in New Zealand and there are no parts stores that have this type of equipment, as we never had these cars down here new .I have just returned from a car show in Christchurch about 400 cars hi percentage of YANKS 1 other Imperial a 57 coupe and a 58? New Yorker .Its great the way that the Imperial takes the eye of the spectators ,a lot of the other cars  were much better presented than ours, the likes of 56./ 7 Chevs all the usual Vetts and Mustangs yet a steady stream of people stop and look at the 58 and chat a while.Regards Hop
