Philippe, As the former owner of 2 Citroen 2CV's, a DS 21 Pallas, and several Peugeots including a 203 convertible, I agree that there are no 'ordinary' French cars! I also believe that Imperials are all unique in certain ways, which is one reason why I am so attracted to them.
