Regarding the 59 with the suspect weak valve

Thanks Mikey,
Actually my mechanic did a compression test about a year ago when I bought the car and took it out of retirement, but now every time I complain about the car running rough, he always goes back to that weak valve. He gave me an extra set of metering rods which were a thinner diameter than those he put in, and today I changed them, and the car was running 50% smoother, probably because it was getting some fuel to run on. I have the cars original rods, and plan to take them to the auto parts store to see if I can get replacements. I think with the correct diameter I will get the car running as smooth as glass once again. I think the mechanic is just looking for that $1000.00 to do a valve job, and I know the car and its performance better than anyone.
