While yarding last weekend, looking for brake parts for my 1990 Imperial, I
found a 1988 New Yorker with seats that I just HAD to have! The seats in
the Imperial are ok but they are rather plain and the front ones are very
dirty (permanently I'm sure). The NYer had nice tufted velour seats.
Today, I went back to the yard, removed the seats and brought them home. I
was only able to remove the rear seats as front power seats are a real
challenge to remove in a salvage yard. You see, normally, you push the seat
fully forward to gain access to the rear mounting bolts, and you push it
fully back to gain access to the front mounting bolts. Well, cars in
salvage yards don't normally have batteries etc so there was no moving these
seats. The guy was nice enough to give me a battery and some wire and
suggested I cut into the wiring in the car and see if I could get the seats
to move. I did that but no luck. I asked him to have the mechanic remove
the seats for me and I'll return Monday to pick them up. It only cost me
another $20 to have them remove the front seats. I DID get the rear seats
though. I brought them home and as you can imagine, they were pretty dirty.
I vacuumed them off really well and then I "shampooed" them with some type
of interior upholstery cleaner stuff. Well, you can hardly tell they aren't
brand new! They are so nice! You can see them here...

integrated adjustable head rests in the back too! I am very pleased with
them!
I can hardly wait till Monday to get the fronts!
