IMO, every "old car" should have two pieces of safetly equipment to guard against being destroyed by fire. 1) A good fire extinguisher 2) A power shut off switch mounted at the battery. I have both in my two 70s cars. I will be installing same in my Imperial when I drive it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Neil Thorpe" <nt014b6628@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <mailing-list@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 21, 2002 1:28 PM Subject: Re: IML: Another Imperial In Flames > I have worked as a mechanic for 21 years, with six of those > working exclusively on vehicle breakdowns at Heathrow > (London) airport for British Airways. > 9 out of 10 vehicle fires i attended was caused by faulty > starter motors or wiring to them. > If your starter is getting slow, noisy or sticking change it > they may be expensive but not compared to the value of > your Imperial. > > Neil Thorpe (Now smooth running) EFI 82 black imp
