IML - 440 keeps running even after its turned off?

One note to add to those already posted...

Premium fuel and correct engine idle speed will normally solve this problem, in my experience, but...

Years ago at the dealer I worked at, one of the older mechanics would rev the engine to about 2000-3000 rpm, then SLOWLY pour a glass of water down the carb (he poured it a heck of a lot faster than I would have!).  The car would spit, sputter, and blow large pieces of schmutz from the tailpipes, and would usually not diesel (or run-on) after that.  I always worried that he would hydro-lock the engine, but I guess that things were moving fast enought that it was not a problem.  I also wondered about thermal shock to the pistons, but to my surprise, he never injured a patient.

I personally just stopped and shut the car off while still in drive, which usually kept the car from dieselling (due to the lower idle speed and higher engine load), until I had the opportunity to make a late-night Mike-Pittinaro-approved highway blast (never exceeding 55 mph, of course).  :)  I was WAY too poor to pop for Premium back then... at $0.62 per gallon!

this?  or any other spray?
