I sold an extremely nice low mileage one (58,000 MI) with factory carb conversion for $2500, and a worn (110,000 Mi) but decent looking and running one for $1000, and a running but very tired one (145,000 MI) for $500, both still EFI, on eBay, and all within the last year or two. These were all California cars with no rust, excellent bumpers etc. My keeper is a very nice 130,000 Mi one with original paint, interior etc., for which I paid $3300 and then rebuilt the engine and transmission, which I knew was too much but it was the nicest original I could find with EFI intact. I don't believe there is any need to pay over $3500 for even the best of these with EFI intact, no rust etc. For a car from east of the Rockies, with the usual problems of Eastern cars, anything over $2000 is too much, unless the car is near mint and still EFI, (or with the factory conversion, if that's your preference). A car with a backyard conversion is basically a gamble and cannot be registered in some states, so I wouldn't touch one. This is an opinion, based on personal experience and bias, so don't bother arguing with me!
