Tony, It isn't necessary to gut the entire AutoTemp II to get reliable climate control. You need an aluminum-bodied AutoTemp II servo. As your e-mail implies, you already know that those are expensive. If you are feeling lucky, search junk yards and swap meets for used servos in better condition than yours. They can cost anywhere from $15 to $25. Good ones can give a year's service before the plastic cracks. 1971-1973 Plymouths, Dodges, Chryslers and Imperials are all possible donors. It is also possible to install a manual heater control valved in the heater line temporarily. Looks tacky. Just make sure you can remove it so that your Imperial looks stock again. AutoTemp is a great feature. It's worth keeping. If memory serves, they are differing diameters. doing this loops the coolant right back into the engine, bypassing the ATC and the heater completely. No heat as a result. Careful about where the hose is laid and that it is secure and won't flop onto something moving or hot. -Kenyon --- grandpa and cheryl <grandpaandcheryl@xxxxxxx> wrote: > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: grandpa and cheryl > To: mailinglist@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Sent: Thursday, July 18, 2002 5:42 PM > Subject: leaking servo > > > I am having a problem with the servo assembly on my 72 > Imperial LeBaron. Its leaking quite badly. Is it possible > to bypass it until my wallet is fat enough to replace > it.I checked out Kerrys saga and its a little over my > head. > Tony 1972 Imperial Lebaron(Genie)
