All this discussion of plating small parts at home fails to take into account that chrome plating is a lethally toxic process. It generates Chromium-6, or hexavalent chromium, which is a truly nasty substance to the human body. Remember the Erin Brockovich story? Chromium-6 was the pollutant that caused all those horrible deformities. There is no practical way to avoid the contamination in a home setup, even professional shops monitored by the EPA and using the latest equipment have problems with toxic levels. The thought of anyone exposing himself or his family to this kind of risk is beyond my understanding. Roger and Michael
