Well...Bob and I are back from Rhinebeck. Among the cars for sale was a very nice 1968 Crown 4-dr hardtop. Unfortunately, we didn't catch the phone number. But...I made off with a '62 front grille assembly (4 pieces in total) for $60 and three '62 wheel covers for $22.00. This isn't necessarily as good as it sounds. Originally, these wheel covers were made so that the design helped cool the brakes. These wheel covers were supposed to remain about 5/8 of an inch from the wheel. In some instances, the wheel cover and mounting surface "collapse" so that the wheel cover is too close to the actual wheel. This is the case with one of the three that I purchased. In other words, I got two wheel covers for $22.00 which still isn't too shabby. OK...I'm still giddy about the grille...I saw this same vendor last year trying to pawn off the four-piece grille for well over $200. I didn't help that this year as well as last year he had the right and left sides of the grille displayed backwards. In other words, the RIGHT side of the grille containing "IMPERIAL" was laid out on the grass on the left side. Car Show this weekend? I attended this show once: about 15 years ago. I remember it only as the place where I contracted Imperialosis. Its a good show.
