chronometer

My chronometer in my 74 used to click so loud you could hear it over the radio on the interstate with all the windows down.  I took it out and just squirted a whole bunch of trombone oil into it, which is the equivalent of sewing machine oil.  I'm not sure if that was good for it, but it keeps great time, and I can never hear it click, even when the car is off.  I did that two years ago, and it's still fine.  The only down fall is that since it's thicker oil then like WD40, in the winter, the clock is slow in turning over the hour.  So, in the winter time, it doesn't keep such good time, but in the summer it's great.  Hope this helps.

I finally gave up and put a switch in the glove box so I could turn the dang thing off and on.
