Almost all rebuilt compressors sold today have seals that are compatible with R12 or R134A. There should be a label in the box telling you which refrigerants the compressor is compatible with. You also must change the dryer to a model that is compatible with 134a and flush the system / change the oil. In your post you said that your system is currently charged with R12 and you didn't want to replace it. There is no way to replace the compressor without first removing the R12. You might find a shop that can capture the R12 and then recycle it back to your car. Those shops are pretty rare though. Steve B.
