I have an original set of 1957 Imperial keys. Regrettably I do not have the
car, only a picture of its front end in a snap where the car was not the
main subject. The car, I fear, has ended up in a much worse place than even
my stewardship, but it may have been bought by someone who kept it. I have
no real use for the keys, Bill, so you can have them if you want them.
On the 58 I do have I have 1 & a 1/2 original keys. The trunk lid key is
intact and I have the top half of the main key, which must have failed at
some point. I have a perfectly nice Mopar replacement key with the
Pentastar on it.
As I have never locked the car since 1994 - although I am beginning to think
about using the trunk lock when on longer journeys requiring stayovers - and
the driver's key really never is subjected to stress, as it only turns to a
start position, with a separate button to engage the starter, I hope the key
will last a long time. Of course, one has failed before, but probably in a
door lock.
As I am pretty good at mislaying keys, maybe I should get a second set,
however.
