I have 6 Imperials ranging from 1956 to 1964. Many of these cars sat dormant for as long as 12 to 15 years. Of course these were not "turn key" drivers when I got them out of storage, but I went through the basic systems on the cars, serviced them, and now I have no problem with "dependability". I feel that there is no problem with the way these cars were engineered, and there are no modern parts that have to be put on Imperials besides the normal maintenance items (tires, plugs, points, wires, belts, hoses, exhaust systems , gaskets, brakes, etc.) to make them reliable/dependable. Whenever an original part wears out, I have mine rebuit, or find a replacement part that is the original type. I have never put an alternator on a generator car, installed electric fuel pumps, used aftermarket carburetors, put on extra cooling fans, added electronic ignition, etc... simply because the cars run great and are dependable with the original equipment if those original systems are maintained, serviced, and are working properly. I drive my cars to work on pretty days, plus take them on 600+ mile trips at least twice a year. So far, knock on wood, I've not had an Imperial let me down. Do whatever makes you happy with your car. I'm just letting you know what has worked for me. Thanks, Jeff Carrothers 56,59,60,62, and 64 Imperials
