I had this problem with my replacement Mopar
Performance distributor. The curve was too steep for
the Imperial. My solution was to install a stronger
spring on the mechanial advance. This allowed me to
get an acceptable idle with 15 degrees of initial
timing, but now I fear the spring may be too strong,
as I don't have as much power off idle.
Eventually I will replace this spring with the spring
out of the original distributor. This, I feel, is the
way it should be done.
