Thanks everyone for all the tips in the past but nothing has worked. It's been at the shop for something like 4 months now and he's tested everything he knows at least twice now but no luck. I'll start from the top: This car still has the EFI and has 75,000 miles. After I bought it it ran for 10 days and then when I went to start it suddenly it ran very rough, smoked lots, and smelled bad. If I let up on the gas it died and wouldn't start again until later. Had to be towed in. This shop specializes in fuel injection and computers. He's been at it for 30 years but only seen one other like this. Car came with extra EFI parts which he's switched all around but still won't run right. What it looks like is that I have an expensive lawn ornament except that it's still at the shop and I'm paying insurance on it. Since we're out of ideas and it is unrepairable I'm wondering how much this might cost me to have it converted. I'm no mechanic. What all parts do I have to round up and how do you get at least the speedometer to work afterwards on this basket case? I can't just dump or part out such a nice and rare car but I'm in a real quandary here as to what my next move should be. It's in pretty nice shape otherwise except the headliner and dented fender which I thought I'd be working on by now but the losses are mounting. Any advise, anyone? Thanks, -Steve
